En Route To Bali

One word: Finally! Honestly, I didn't want to think about the amount of time it would take to fly from LAX to Bali, so I just didn't ask before I left. But in the airport, it leaked. 20 hours.

Flight 1: LAX to Narita, Japan. 11 hours. 1 hour layover.

Flight 2: Narita to Singapore, 7 hours. 8 hour layover.
Before we left, I was just as excited to see Singapore as I was to go to Bali. Images of neon city lights and shops open all night filled my head. Fariha, Stephanie and I all agreed to explore the city when we landed, regardless of if we were tired or not. After riding on a plane for 18 hours, I stepped into the humid air expecting to be bombarded with city life. Instead, the soft sound of cicadas hummed in the pitch black air, the only lights glowing from the airport.
After setting down our bags in the hotel, we got in a small group, thinking that we could grab a bite to eat and go in some shops. Unfortunately, as we walked out into the city, passing by dark glass windows, the only thing open was a 7 eleven hardly larger than a closet.
I bought a white chrysanthemum tea, which tasted like a bottle of sugar flowers.
But despite my dissappointment in walking into a city sound asleep, I had a great time with Stephanie and Fariha. We all found out our passion for traveling, and I knew that after the string of coincidences of sitting together on the plane, we would hopefully be close friends during our trip.

Anyways, flight 3: Singapore to Bali. 2 hours.

Stepping out of that last plane was such a relief! The Ubud Inn is gorgeous, and our welcome dinner was amazing. The food here just tastes so much more fresh, and the flavors are so pure. So far, I LOVE BALI!
